About this tool
Our Age Calculator works out your exact chronological age from a date of birth, down to the day. Enter your birthday and, optionally, a different "as of" date, and it instantly shows your age in years, months, and days, along with the total number of weeks, days, hours, and minutes you have been alive. It also shows a running countdown to your next birthday and your Western zodiac sign. This is useful for filling in forms that ask for an exact age rather than just a birth year, checking eligibility cutoffs for exams or jobs that specify a minimum age on a particular date, or simply satisfying curiosity about how many days you have lived. Every calculation runs directly in your browser using plain JavaScript date math β your date of birth is never sent anywhere or stored.

Tips & common mistakes
- β’If a form or exam notice specifies an eligibility date (e.g., "age as of 1 January"), set the target date field to that exact date instead of leaving it on today.
- β’Double-check which field is the day and which is the month if you normally write dates as DD/MM β the picker labels each field to avoid off-by-one mistakes.
- β’The "total days lived" figure already accounts for leap years, so don't manually add extra days for them.
- β’Results reflect the moment you calculated them; reopen the tool or recalculate later if you want the live countdown refreshed.
How Chronological Age Calculation Works
Calendar months have varying lengths (28β31 days), so subtracting dates directly requires borrowing days from the previous month when needed.
Age = Target Date β Date of Birth (adjusted for days-in-month and leap years)- β’Years: Target Year β Birth Year, adjusted down by one if the current month/day falls before the birth month/day
- β’Months: Remaining whole months after full years are subtracted
- β’Days: Remaining days once whole years and months have been accounted for
