About this tool
Compress PDF rebuilds each page of your document as a compressed image so large scans and photo-heavy PDFs become small enough for email and online forms. Everything runs in your browser tab: the file is not uploaded to our servers for processing. Text-only PDFs that are already optimized may shrink less than scanned documents — that is expected with honest client-side compression. Choose a smaller-file, balanced, or higher-quality preset depending on whether you care more about size or sharpness.
How to use
- 1
Select a PDF
Choose a PDF under 40 MB from your device.
- 2
Pick a quality preset
Use Smaller file for portals, Balanced for most docs, or Higher quality when detail matters.
- 3
Compress & download
Wait for progress to finish, then download the compressed PDF.
Features
- Three quality presets: smaller file, balanced, higher quality
- Shows original vs compressed size
- Works on multi-page PDFs
- No account or watermark
- Processing stays in your browser
Limitations
- •Pages are rasterized, so vector sharpness and selectable text are not preserved the same way as the original.
- •Password-protected PDFs are not supported until you remove the password.
- •Very large page counts can be slow on phones because rendering runs on your device.
- •Already-optimized text PDFs may not get much smaller.
Tips & common mistakes
- •For scanned IDs and forms, start with Balanced, then try Smaller file if the portal still rejects the size.
- •If text looks soft, switch to Higher quality and compress again.
- •Compress a short test PDF first when you are unsure about quality requirements.
